Outside the Church Walls

When I wrote last Monday about Canceling Church, I forgot one major part - the Church doesn't have walls!

Thanks to Carol for pointing that fact out to me! In her comment she said:

Well, when you think of church not being about the building, but more about fellowship, I don't have a problem canceling Sunday morning service. I could show up every Sunday to service, but miss what it means to worship. I sort of cancel church in my own way everyday, like when I spend more time on the computer than time with God (hmmm, like now).

It is a little ironic that I forgot this important aspect of Christianity, since our church is constantly reminding us that we are the church, not a building!

I really like this translation of Galatians 6:1-3 (The Message)

Live creatively, friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day's out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ's law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.

I normally do not read that translation, but I like the way it's worded there.
Great post.
I clicked you off of the BlogRush widget, and I like what you have to say.

Larry,

Thanks for stopping by and your kind words! I find The Message is a great supplement to other translations.

I just checked out a couple of your links.
Could it be that you are part of The Church of God, headquartered in Anderson IN ?
My church is The Pekin First Of God, Pekin IL.

I am actually not affiliated with the Church of God even though I live in Anderson! My church is a community church with no denominational ties.
